Project Development

Design Foundations

I collaborated with an instructor to create several projects that allowed students to learn and practice software skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

In the first module students are given a design brief for a new food truck and asked to create a simple one-page menu. In subsequent modules, the “client” has requested additional assets including a combination logo, business package, simple icons, repeat pattern, brochure style menu, and flyer. As part of the final project, students create a simple presentation of their work, including the use of mock-ups to present to the “client.”

Illustration Workbook

To replace an out of print textbook, I worked with the class instructor to create a workbook for students to practice vector illustration skills.

We each developed several different projects within five “levels,” that incorporate multiple techniques and Adobe Illustrator tools. In later levels, students are given fewer instructions to create the illustrations. At the end of the course the students compile their best works into a book layout which they print on a digital press, punch, and bind.

Photoshop Ads

The instructor for a Photoshop class incorporated a new project in which students would create three cohesive advertisements for an energy drink. Based on the instructor’s design brief, I created the logo assets for students to use in the ads, as well as three example ads.
